What a week...it's almost "SPOOKY" Norwich week 10

Mum,
Well first of all, the baptism was incredible!! The spirit was so strong and I think it was the best baptism I have ever been to!! I gave a talk on Baptism and Sister Murray the younger gave a talk on the Holy Ghost, her talk was amazing!!! Also, all 6 of us missionaries sang a musical number, How Great Thou Art, none of us are musical, but I think it ended up sounding ok! We had this great idea, so we bought little note cards and had everyone write down their testimony while she was getting changed then gave it to her after! She seemed to really love it! I also wrote a card to her and gave her the big temple drawing of the Logan Temple! She really loved it!! :)

To start answering questions.. NO IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE 4 MONTHS AT ALL!!! I can't believe I have been out that long! I kinda want it to slow down! To tell you about what we eat.. well usually whatever we can find in the house. ha Most of the time salads, wraps, sandwiches, toast or cereal. Luckily our district leader knows how to cook so sometimes he makes us pasta or something like that after district meeting! And ya know, of course some chocolate every once in a while! Also the occasional ice cream, but only to celebrate like after Saturday! :) I have no idea about the visiting Authority, I don't know who it is or when they are coming or if we will all go to London or not.. But as soon as I find out I will let you know! :) Oh also this week was the Stake Variety show.. apparently I skipped (jump roped) so well at the ward one that they had me do it in the Stake one as well! However, Sister Martineau was gone so I did cotton-eye joe by myself (Sister Schumann didn't have long enough to learn it) And then part of my single that I could remember. Then 2 of the Elders came on and we turned a long single rope for one of them while he did some push ups and such that I taught him. It went pretty well! Sister Schumann and I get along WONDERFULLY!!! I love her so much!! We are so close, we laugh together, we feel the spirit together, and sometimes we scream and take 40 minutes to kill a spider together! :) haha I love being a mum! It is stressful, and I sometimes feel like I'm not good enough to be training, but I turn to the Saviour and somehow I make it through. Her first name is Luana, people call her Luni at home, how cute is that?!?! She has one older brother, who served in London South and came home from his mission the day she came out into the field, so she literally won't see him for 3 &1/2 years, but she says he will still be there when she gets back and she is serving the Lord so it will all work out. She has such faith it is incredible!

photos after baptism

We do have FB here, but it is a new account and it is private so you won't be able to see anything I post, but I will show you all when I get home! :) And we are the only 2 sisters in Norwich! They don't really celebrate Halloween here, actually the stores already have Christmas Window displays up!!! ITS NOT EVEN THANKSGIVING! I guess in their defense they don't have Thanksgiving but still, you know it is my least favourite thing when Christmas music is played before Thanksgiving.. so this month will be interesting! But I kinda love it! But back to Halloween, even though they don't really celebrate it here, the ward is having a trunk or treat and we will no doubt eat LOTS of chocolate/sweets on halloween! The primary program went so well!! I love the kids in this ward! They are so cute! I got to hold the mic for some of them while they read scriptures and it was so fun to help them!! They have a special place in my heart!!

Other than that nothing is new!!! Same old same old!! I love you so much mum and I am so grateful to you for living righteously and raising me with correct principles! I cannot thank you enough for everything you have ever done for me!

I love you to the moon and back infinity times!!

I LOVE being a MISSIONARY and being a "MUM"! Norwich wk 9

Hello Mum!!!!

Well everything is going great here in Norwich. I am so excited to tell you about this week.. Like wow it was amazing I don't even have the words to describe it!! But first I will try to answer all your questions.. Being a mum is exactly like it is in real life except your child is 3 days younger than you (yes her birthday is 29 June) and she is already one of my greatest friends. She definitely came pre-trained and I all I really have to do is teach her small lessons like that we can't wear leggings outside the flat and how to use Facebook as a missionary! But she teaches me so much everyday. I was so nervous when I found out I was going to be training and I still feel like I'm not good enough to teach someone else how to do missionary work but I have learned more than anything to rely on the Lord and I couldn't do this without him. We have so much fun working together and she is a fabulous teacher! :) She reminds me exactly of me when I was a new missionary, except she came as a lot better teacher. But really the things she does I am like wow I did exactly that like 3 months ago!!! haha it makes me laugh sometimes!! She is such a hard worker and knows her purpose and is ready to do whatever the Lord asks of us. WE GO HARD!!!! ;) She is from Wolfsburg, which is in the state Saxony the North/middle of Germany! We are still working on renewing our teaching pool but we have some high hopes for this coming week and we have called a bunch of potential investigators from the phone so hopefully some of them have been prepared! Zone Conference was sooo good!! We didn't talk about ipads... however, we found out there is a General Authority coming to the mission next month so my guess is that we will get them then! It was so good to see Sister Pope and Sister Schumann got to meet her grandma!! There wasn't much time to take pictures, but when we see Sister Pope again we will take a 3 generation picture! :) Also, Elder Farley is now a Zone Leader in Cambridge so I got to see him as well! (He was one of my first Zone Leaders in Watford.) I have not driven at all and I probably won't. I miss driving however I don't ever want to serve in Thetford (the only area where Sisters have cars) because I don't wanna get fat!! If I have to walk everywhere then I can stay skinny :) haha Occasionally we teach Young Womens and we get to help with the Primary Program! WHOOT WHOOT!! I am so excited! We had a practice and I forgot how funny little kids are! :) I am the one that helps them with their parts and it is so funny! There is a family in the ward, the C's. The mother, M is a member but her husband isn't so her children can't be baptised until they are older and they can decide for themselves. But they come to church every week and she almost always either brings us a sack lunch or treats every Sunday. She is incredible. Also, her little kids are the cutest!! R is her daughter who is 9 and she has a son, B who is 6 (I think). We love them so much!! Also, Sister C is a pharmacist!!!!!!!! So I'm sure you can guess how happy that makes me :) Also, another family that we love from the ward are the D's! Brother and Sister D and there 3 kids: E, A, and S. They have us over for a meal often and they are so cute!! This week when we went over there I gave the girls a CTR ring from the ones you sent, they loved it!! :) Yes I'm starting to feel better, not all the way whole yet but I will be fine don't worry :) We take the bus at least once everyday, but we also walk a considerable amount! Its the perfect combination, and I used to hate buses but I have learned to deal with them! :) I found a coat at TK maxx (yup its the same as TJ maxx just with a different name) So I'm all set for winter! It is starting to get a little colder and the leaves are changing colours!! Our favourite thing to do is walk through a pile of crunchy leaves! We get so excited you would think we have won the lottery! haha oh the joys of missionary work ;) haha and yes, NEXT is  a fabulous store!! :)

And tell Brother Bush that I got the letter he sent to Watford and it came on a harder day. I was so grateful to get it and it completely changed my attitude. This week as we were teaching Geraldine I was able to share the experience of getting that letter and how Home Teachers really do make a difference in our lives as they diligently fulfil their priesthood responsibilities. So please tell him thank you. I think that is all of the question answered, so now I get to tell you about our amazing week!! We had Zone conference and that was amazing, as always. But the best day of the week was Saturday. It was a pretty normal Saturday, we were on our way to teach Geraldine about the Temple. We had been so excited all week to teach her about the temple because we knew she would be excited to hear about it! We taught her with a lady from the ward named Sister K and I dare say it was the most amazing lesson I have ever been in thus far on my mission. The spirit was unlike anything I have ever felt as Sister Schumann, Sister K, and I all bore strong testimonies of the spirit and power of temples and attending the temple. Geraldine could not stop smiling and we know she felt the spirit as strong as we did. She even told us that she wants us to be with her at the temple when she goes through in one year. It was the greatest feeling I have ever felt. I know now that this is why we are here, to help people make every step necessary to live with our father again. We help people take the first step on the path but baptism is just the first step. I know that our Father's hand is in this work. I feel more than blessed to be able to teach Geraldine. I think I learn a lot more from her than she does from me. I cannot thank my Father enough to be a missionary and to be able to be used in this glorious work. But as amazing as that lesson was, what happened later that night was equally incredible. I don't remember if I told you or not, but Sister Schumann's father is not a member of the church, so almost every prayer that is said by either one of us, her father is included in that prayer that his heart will be softened. So after we left Geraldine's, Sister Schumann and I were talking and she said that as strong as the spirit was bearing witness of temples, it was equally as strong telling her to tell her father this story. So after a few other appointments we arrived home and after planning she started the letter to her father. That night as we knelt down to pray she offered the prayer and I now understand the meaning of pleading with Heavenly Father. She was begging our Father to help her father to be more open to the gospel. By the time the prayer was finished we were both crying. I love her so much and even though I have never met her father I love him as well. I never realized until now but I have been so selfish my whole life but for once I want something so bad that has nothing to do with me. I want this for her father and for her. I now pray different and plead for this miracle. As we were laying in bed trying to fall asleep we started talking and again we spoke about how families can be together forever, and how the faith from us must be strong enough to make a difference. I expressed to her my thanks for helping me to be more grateful that both of my parents are members and how lucky I am to have this blessing. I have noticed more the little things that I took for granted before. This day really changed me, my testimony, and I believe that it will have changed my mission. I work a little harder, and pray with a little more heart. I have a little more faith and I am a little more grateful for the things that I have. I know now the importance of becoming a Christlike missionary, not just being a person who does missionary things. I am so grateful for Sister Schumann and for what she has taught me. I am thankful for you and for daddy for living worthily and for raising me with the knowledge of my Saviour and of this church. I know with every part of me that Jesus Christ is my Saviour. He lives and He loves me, and He loves you. The Book of Mormon is true. It was translated by the power of God and it is written for us, today. Joseph Smith is a prophet. He restored the full gospel of our Saviour, Jesus Christ again on the earth. I know that this church is true. I am so grateful for that knowledge that I have. I love you so much mum and thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve.  I hope you have a wonderful week!!!

I love you to the moon and back infinity times!

Well... I'm a MUM!! Norwich week 8

 HELLO!!!

Well I'm a mum.. and I couldnt be more proud of my baby!! Her name is Sister Schumann and she is from Germany. She thinks her English isn't very good, but she is fluent and my sentence structure isn't always the best either so we are doing good! :) She is the one right behind me in the new missionary/trainers picture. She is already a champion at teaching and is not scared at all to talk to people! I can already tell we are going to DO WORK here in Norwich!!! P is wanting to go to other churches first before he gets baptised so that he can know this one is true, so he isn't going to be baptised on his date. However, Geraldine is getting baptised on 25 October and we couldn't be more excited! She is the greatest, you have no idea. When I left the MTC I was convinced that a "perfect investigator" didn't exsist, but I found one!! Geraldine is so prepared. The spirit is so strong when we teach her and her answers to the questions we ask are so posh. She is so excited to live the commandments and be baptised. It is truly amazing how the spirit can work on people. I know that it has nothing to do with our teaching  but completely on the spirit. I know that if we weren't obedient and diligent that the Lord wouldn't have given us this blessing. Also, don't worry mum, Geraldine is taking good care of me! :) I have had sinusitis pretty bad this week and I lost my voice completely for a couple days, so when we went to teach her she gave me cough drops and was making sure I was ok. She really is the sweetest!! Right now we are trying to renew our teaching pool so we are doing a lot of finding!! We don't have any other promising investigators but that will change by next week. I cannot even describe the honor I feel for the trust that Heavenly Father and President Jordan have shown in making me a trainer. I have really taken this opportunity to evaluate myself as a missionary and figure out what I need to do better. I love this work so much!!!!!
Also, I got the package!! :) Thank you so so so much!! I love every single thing in there!!! Even the American Chocolate ;) The skirt fits perfectly and it is so cute!! The ring is my favorite part :) I never take it off :) Thank you so much! It was so nice so have a little box of home and it was so fun to go through and read all of the letters from everyone and also go through everything that was in there! So thank you a million times!! I also loved the pictures!!! :) I can't think of anything that I need for the Christmas one right now but I will let you know.
So for your lesson. I have a real testimony that we are ALL children of our Heavenly Father and that he loves ALL of us. And if our Heavenly Father loves all of us why do we  not love each other? As a representative of Jesus Christ I have gained a different view as I look around a busy street. I used to see the cute shoes the lady was wearing and the funny hat the old man at the bus stop had or the african family walking on the other side. I used to look at what people were wearing or what brand their shoes were, but now its different. As we start walking as Christ did, like we were taught in conference we also start seeing like he did, which in some ways is the harder part. Now as I look around I see people who are children of God. I see people who need the gospel in their lives whether they know it or not. I see ways I can help these people, even if it is just a smile and a hello. If we would all start not only walking as the Saviour walked, but first seeing as the Saviour saw, it would change us, our families, our communities, and the world.
I know that wasn't much but I hoped that helped a little bit... :)
So to explain training meeting we go to Hyde Park and then we have a little meeting with President and Sister Jordan and the Assistants, then we have lunch and get baby sat for a while by some Zone Leaders then we go down in the back room and wait to hear them sing 'Called to Serve' and when they start the second verse we all walk into the room singing. It is one of the coolest moments I have had on my mission. Also the most nerve raking. I didn't stop shaking all night. I am still nervous and new at this whole training thing but with the Lord as my strength I know that I can do anything.
Well, that is about all for our week I think. Everything is going good and we have a zone conference tomorrow with a visiting Area Authority so that should be fun! :) I will tell you all about it next week!
I love you so much mum-- to the moon and back infinity times!!

Norwich Week 7... YES I am staying and training!

Hello Everyone!

So I apologize that I don't have time to send personal emails this week! I will try to next week! And this will be shorter than normal but it should have all the essential needed info in here. Well this week was transfers which is why this email is coming on a Tuesday and not a Monday, but week 6 went well here in Norwich and my next will be spent in..... Norwich!! WHOOT WHOOT! Im staying here! However, my companion is moving to Milton Keynes. :( I will miss her so much! She has been a lot of fun and the work has gone really well here the last little while!

Oh and I should probably also mention that IM TRAINING!! AHHH! Im really nervous but a lot more excited. I know that the Lord and President Jordan have a lot of trust in me to ask me to do this and I hope I will live up to their expectations. I know that I don't know everything about being a missionary, heavens I still don't even know where to buy a winter coat. But I know with every fiber in my being that the enabling power of the atonement is real, that the Lord will give me the strength to serve above and beyond my own capabilities, and I will definitely need it! I don't know who I am training yet, we won't know until tomorrow after they arrive and President interviews all of them! So I will have to let you know next week! :) Also, can we talk about conference for a minute?! Like WOW! It was sooooo soooo good! WOW! We got to watch all except the Sunday afternoon session, so we will have to wait for the Ensign to come out to watch those!

Onto other news, we had a baptism this week! It is the Turkish man named M. He is amazing! Even though he cant speak a lot of English he understands a lot and every time we talk to him he thanks us so much for how we have changed his life. He came to every meeting of Conference and just couldn't get enough. He is the most amazing person and he was definitely prepared by the Lord! We are so thankful that we were being obedient missionaries so that the Lord could place us in his path. On a fun note, for p-day today we went to the American Air Force base in Thetford (about a 45 minute drive) with all 4 other Elders and it was a BLAST!!! We ate Taco Bell and went grocery shopping and bought real people deodorant, chewy chips ahoy, and best of all.... PICKLES!!!!!!!!! (They are called Gherkins to English people and they are so gross! So I got some American good ones :)) Well sorry again that this is short! Love you all so much and thank you for being amazing!

Love your favourite missionary

So turns out, as you know from the other email I will be going into London tomorrow to pick up my new missionary so I will be able to get the package tomorrow!! YAY!! There are about 200 missionaries in the mission but I couldnt tell you Elder to Sister ratio, sorry. However I do know that about 13 sisters are flying home tomorrow so they might have to shut down some sister areas. The huge rush that came out at the age change is starting to go home. Sister McNamee is from Tennessee but joined the church while she was going to Ohio State. Neither of her parents are members and she actually left on her mission about 13 months after joining, She is AMAZING! The baptism was awesome! And we just have to do everything for a normal baptism except instead of having 2 weeks we have 2 days, so it ends up being a little stressful. And we did sing! We sang Nearer my God to thee, im getting better at this whole singing thing. And all of the Elders here are super Posh!! However, Elder Nolan, one of the Zone Leaders is moving :( He is going to Watford though!!!! I am so jealous!! He will be Zone Leader and Elder Hutchins companion there. President definitely knows me or I wouldnt be training! haha he knows all the missionaries quite well i think. Elder Giles passed away from a sudden heart attack. It was devastating. Him and his wife came in the same day i did so they had only been here for about 3 months. Loved conference!! We got to see the womens general broadcast and both of saturdays and sunday morning sessions. Havent been to the coast yet, not really time but It is in my zone so maybe one of these p-days.  Sorry this is short. I love you so much momma and Im so excited to get that package,  I have learned a lot of patience in the 3 months I have been here! I love you to the moon and back infinity times!

your loving, sweet, kind, generous, peaceful, beautiful and favourite missionary, (hahahaha ;))
